Open Mic Night Guidelines

As both organizations acknowledge and celebrate the multiplicity of voices and perspectives in our communities, the open mic night is intended to be an inclusive and affirming space for our community regardless of race, religion, gender identity, ideologies etc. We are asking all performers and attendees to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • No hate speech, misogynistic, racist or any language that is phobic to our Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, queer or trans community members and anyone who engages in this language in their performance or chat comments will be removed

  • No participating in any hurtful, threatening or disruptive behavior during the program

  • No photographing or capturing (including capturing video or sound) without the express permission of artists who will be performing and by registering for this program you are giving your consent to The Fire This Time Festival and Creators of Color Collective to record this program

  • When artists are performing all attendees will be muted, but you may respond in affirmative and/or a supportive manner in the chat

  • Please limit your performance time to no more than five minutes maximum so that we can give as many artists as possible the opportunity to present their work

  • Listen intently and practice radical love and empathy
